How do I import record pool tracks into rekordbox, Serato, VirtualDJ and Traktor?

Download your tracks, unzip the folder, put it in your music folder, then drag it into your software's collection. Each file name shows the version in brackets, and the tags carry the BPM and key.

Step 1: how do I download cleanly?

On Bangerz Army, you can download one track at a time, or a whole batch as one zip with Download all. Only one zip is prepared at a time: wait for the first one to be ready before you start a second.

Each file in the zip is named like this:

Artist - Title [Version].mp3

For example Artist - Title [Intro Clean].mp3. You see the version without opening the file. If you're not sure which version to pick, read Clean, dirty, intro: which version should I play?.

The file you download is the original file, unchanged. Downloading a track again counts against your monthly allowance, so keep your files and back them up.

Step 2: where should I keep the files?

Create one main music folder and don't move it again. DJ software finds tracks by their location on the drive: if you move the folder after importing, your software can't find the files anymore.

A simple method: one folder per month or per genre, inside the main folder. Unzip each download straight into it.

Step 3: how do I import into rekordbox?

Open rekordbox and click Collection, then drag the folder from Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows) onto the track list. rekordbox adds the tracks to Collection and reads their tags. You can then create a playlist and drag the tracks into it.

If you play on club players, export your playlist to a USB drive from rekordbox. Bangerz Army cover art shows the key and BPM, for CDJ-3000 screens.

Step 4: how do I import into Serato DJ?

Open Serato DJ, then drag the folder onto the library (or onto the All icon). Serato adds the tracks. Since Serato DJ 4.0, it analyzes new files on import by default (the Analyze on Import setting), which builds the waveforms, BPM and key. If you turned that setting off, analyze the files yourself.

To keep your structure, drag the folder into the crates area: Serato creates a crate with the folder's name.

Step 5: how do I import into VirtualDJ?

In VirtualDJ, the left panel of the browser shows the folders on your computer. Go to your music folder: the tracks show up and play straight away.

Step 6: how do I import into Traktor?

In Traktor, add your music folder in Preferences > File Management (under Music Folders, click Add), then right-click Track Collection in the browser and choose Import Music Folders. Traktor imports the tracks.

Are the BPM and key already in the file?

Yes. Every Bangerz Army file carries the artist, title, BPM, Camelot key (for example 8A) and genre in its tags. Your software can read those tags or analyze the track itself.

Camelot notation is for harmonic mixing: two tracks with the same code, or neighboring codes (8A, 7A, 9A, 8B), blend without clashing. If your software shows keys in a different notation, look in its preferences for the key display option.

What about hot cues?

The file you download comes unchanged: the hot cues you set afterwards are yours. When a file contains Serato hot cues and a beatgrid, Bangerz Army reads them and shows them in the app.

FAQ

My tracks disappeared from my software. Why?

Usually the folder was moved or renamed after the import. Put it back where it was, or use your software's tool to relocate missing files.

Do I need to unzip before importing?

Yes. DJ software reads MP3 files, not zip archives.

Do Bangerz Army files work in rekordbox and Traktor?

Yes. Every file is an MP3, and Bangerz Army files are ready for Serato, rekordbox and Traktor. To pick your software, read Which DJ software should I use?.

I need to download a track again. Does it count?

Yes, a new download counts against your monthly allowance.
